8tv Turns Two Mall Tour-Part 2

So, yeah i was in MP for both days for the 8tv Turns Two Mall Tour :) For both days, coincidently my family needed to go to town, so me and my sis followed and they dropped us in Mp. But i tell you, everything was so worth it; music, stage performances and live singing were simply awesome. It was the weekend of songs!

Actually i din have the slightest clue on the performance schedule. I went on Sat juz to find out that only the Project Superstars finalist would be singing on that particular day. A lil disappointed at first coz I only wanted to see Marion, Malaysian Idols and the One in A Million finalists. But who knows, it turned out to be the opposite as these chinese singers sang really beautiful chinese songs, some of the songs that i really like personally.

Then, Marion came on stage to say hi and to play games with some kids. Was my first time seeing Marion in person. Beautiful.

MarionOur fave gal..8tv Quickie and One In A Million host-Marion Caunter

After the game ended, another emcee told Marion to have a nice trip back to KL and Marion left the stage. So I told my sis to wait at the backstage coz we might get to take a pic with her when she came out from there. And she did. Took pics of coz..as shown in below photo. I asked if she was in a hurry to go back to KL, but she told me she was actually looking for a washroom. I asked if she knew where (I doubt she knew haha) she said she actually didn't. So as a kind Malaccan myself hehe, I offered to bring her there.

Marion n Me She is tall and I am short. That is a fact :)

The nearest toilet to the stage was the one near Kamdar but it was under renovation, so i decided to bring her to the next nearest washroom. I actually wasnt very sure if the place i thought has a washroom actuallly has one. You get what i mean? But I managed to show her the washrrom anyway. She thanked us and told me and my sis that she can walk back herself and that we din have to wait for her in which we did.

Mall Tour My sis managed to record a short video of us from the back. This image was being captured using DVD player software.

She was a lil surprised to see us still standing there waiting for her. I told her that I'll walk her back coz afterall she was still a guest in Malacca. A few other gals, praised her when they saw her. I wonder what happened in the washroom though. And so, we had a lil chat along the way, we talked about 8tv of coz, we discussed about One In A Million , Gol and Gincu, Paul Moss, Syafinaz, Adam.

Marion n me 2 Us talking..oh yeah my sis did join in the talk too.

Msian Idols Vick, Dina and Nita and 2 other chinese singers (blocked) singing "Where Is The Love"

Vick in MP Vick singing some chinese songs here. I need someone to tell me what title this song is.

Nita and Dina sang like 2 songs each. Nita sang " Setia and Big Spender" and Dina sang "If I aint got you and one more song from her album" .Vick sang more I think. He sang a few songs then went offstage, later he got on stage and sang again. I had many recordings from this mall tour, and I watch these videos almost every night coz like i said, the songs/ballads are great!!

Another thing I happen to notice, most local chinese male celebrities have brown spiky hairstyle. Daniel has it, Vick has it, John (project superstar) has it. I have to say that it makes them look really stylish and even cuter *wink* Seriously..

I juz enjoy live singing. Daniel and Jac will be in MP on the 3rd Sep..and you bet im not gonna miss it too. I dun really like the idea of standing right in front of the stage together with those young gals whom I think want to pull the performers off stage if possible, but for the video recording sake, I have to. Wahahah..and i dun care as long as i can have nice videos to watch after i transfer them to my pc man.

Gotta get to work now. So that's all for now.

Cubic's 10 Years Service Award
Function 2
Being one of the 4 emcess for my company function was an absolute honor. There were only 2 emcees last year, this year there were 4, lets welcome me and my co-emceee aka my so-called contract clerk *wink*

Function 3

I was wearing a green baju kurung initially but my manager after seeing 3 other emcess dressed in red/pink, said this to me.

Manager whispered: Agnes, you should have worn something of the same color.

I realized it too actually that green would make me looked very outstanding odd. But no fret, I had brought along a spare baju kurung with me and it was pinkish. Thanks for making me part of the emcee association. I still wanted green!!! :(

We had our rehearsal early in the morning in Tiara ballroom. Deco was fine, balloons were plentiful, only if the ballroom is more spacious and brighter, the venue would be perfect. Well, that shouldn’t be my concern at all afterall, coz it had got nothing to do with my task man :)

VIPs aka Cubic’s managing director, managers from various departments arrived at 10am. Then the ceremony kicked off. The speech was in bahasa. No big deal, bring it on, it’s never foreign to me. Opening speech was not given by me and my co-emcee though. Then, lunch was served. Being a committee didn’t give us the ‘privilege’ to eat in peace, especially the emcees. We gotta be fully alert coz we wouldn’t want to be laughing stock to others in case our mouths were still filled with food when it’s our turn to take the mic man. Well, we took turns to introduce the programmes, so that was why we had to make sure we swallowed our food in time hahaha. Actually it din bother me that much, I took my time and enjoyed the food. Seated beside me was one of the committee aunty from my dept, she asked me: “Wah you can still eat oh?” I smiled at her, thinking: “Why not?”

Standing behind the rostrum and the mic, the room then turned silent, and everybody started to look at your direction getting ready to hear you speak, and then you deliver your speech, making sure you execute it in a pro manner. Oh wow, what a great feeling that was!

Performances such as traditional dance, modern dance and karaoke singing were good. The event ended around 1pm. And after some crazy photo taking, we gotta get back to work...duh!! Everyone of us was so not in the mood for work that second half of the day man. We took those helium balloons back to the office and the entire dept looked like as if we have juz held a party in there or smth hehehe.

My manager met the event’s person in charge (from my dept of coz) to have a post-discussion on the function I guess, and this PIC told me and my supervisor...

PIC: Mr Young seems to notice Agnes only, he said to our manager the Chinese emcee from personnel management very good and confirmed again if her name is Agnes, but he never said anything about the other Chinese emcee gal.

Mr Young is my manager’s boss, Cubic second-big boss.

I wonder my manager got kembang or not coz her boss actually praised her staff. If I said I’m not flattered, I’m lying la. Come on, the compliment came from my manager’s boss sial. 3 tingkat above of me man. Woohoo!! Yes, I should feel happy for my own performance but I know that I’m afterall, still a 8 month old worker, I have much to learn and improve :-)

During lunch the next day, one of my colleagues who kept commenting on my speech during rehearsal started to share my pride with a few others. During rehearsal, she was like “agnes, this part should be louder, that part must this must that”. I was kinda pissed actually. I do appreciate her comments and I will accept constructive criticism but she melebih-lebih already la. My co-emcee feels the same way too. She said to me that I should do it my way and dun nid to bother her so much.

And now??

Her: Agnes, you should feel proud u know…Mr young puji you…bla bla bla.. (turned to another collague) Eh I ask you, how long you work adi? 3 years? See, mr young also never puji you b4 rite?” So you see agnes, you should be feel proud. Luckily there is smth good from our dept to cover some other things that never go well, at least you made us proud. Nevermind, next year we(referring to her and other collegues) will kena puji pulak from our biggest boss. Eh mr young likes you man, wah now we have another affair, and agnes will be transferred to another dept adi hahaha, Company Affair..hahaha.

Wahlao…budak ni…cakap sudah melampaui batas man…

Me: Actually whose suggestion was that? To make me one of the emcees?
Her: I think is Mr young la, coz during the planning, our manager mentioned his name, so I think he suggested you
Me: Kenot be, I never liaise anything with him b4, he doesn’t know me also..
Her: Your system presentation that time?
Me: He didn’t attend la
Her: Then maybe someone else told him about you gua..
Me: Dunno, maybe. *thinking…whatever la*

From the way she spoke, I sensed a lil bit of….hmmm….hope I’m wrong. Susahnya, but I guess that’s how things are in the working world.

A Bet
Taken from my previous entry “Btw, I actually wonder how it will be like, watching critical matches in public, on a huge tv screen. Hmm~”

Haha now I know how it’s like. Was part of the crowd in Bamboo Hut last Friday. The singer and band at that open air pub was seriously good man, I was totally into the music before the match started. You know me, I juz LUV live band. They did the Bryan Adam’s number ‘Summer of 69’ beautifully. The song is still playing in my head now. Anyway, when we got there, all the tables were fully booked and the staff there opened another table for us and it was so close to the projector screen. In fact the first row haha. Btw, it wasn’t THAT bad la. I ordered this cocktail called ‘sex on the beach’, wonder how they came up with that name but it was good (IT GOTTA BE coz…). The drink was a mixture of Vodka, Orange juice, pineapple juice and berry if I din remember wrongly. Trust me it was damn expensive for a drink and i guess it would put me on a long pause before I were to order drinks of such price again.

Argentina lost and I personally think that we should not decide who wins by doing penalty shoot-outs. But that’s the rule, what can we do. Take England for example. Boring match, midfield play but I think they played well by holding on for one hour (including extra time) when they’re down to 10 men. Commentator said that England fans were excited about the penalty shoot-outs, I knew penalty wouldn’t do them any good. And so, England lost as usual in penalty shoot-outs. I was supporting Portugal since the start of the World Cup, but after what happened to Beckham and then Rooney got sent out, I thought it’d be interesting to see England defeats Portugal. They said England’s performance so far in the world cup made them less a qualifier. Being a lil bit of an England supporter, I choose not to comment about anything on that :) Btw..dun u think a red-card for Rooney is somehow too heavy? The penalty for pushing your opponent is getting a red card? Oh ya, I also felt that the commentator was on Portugal’s side man.

Wonder when the manufacturers of England jersey will get to put the second star on England’s jersey man.

Damn it, I lost in a bet!!! Sial betul. I guess many lost in the Brazil vs France match too hahaha. Who would have thought Brazil will kena knock-out in quarter-finals man!! My fren wanted me to bet with him and I get to choose the team to support. The agreement? KFC on the loser. I thought why not. Then, juz when I thought I gotta belanja KFC, he asked if I’d like to trade it off by betting on another coming match. It’s alwiz good to bet with gentlemen hahahaha. Well, trade off sounds great but I told him that, to belanja once is better than to lose again and belanja twice haha. So he did some modification on the deal, if he loses the next bet, he’d treat me at TGI Friday; If I lose, I dun nid to belanja 2 times, instead juz once. Wahahaha…I wonder if that’s still called a bet. Where on earth can you get such deal man. Anyway, I have not given my final answer yet.

Have something to blog about work. In next post then.
